Schlabach’s 600th Win

Dave Schlabach - 600 career wins

For nearly 27 seasons, Dave Schlabach has led the Hiland Lady Hawk basketball program to statewide prominence.


Monday night, Feb. 5, the East Holmes Administration presented Schlabach with a placque noting his 600th win on Feb. 1st against Newcomerstown.


Presenting the plaque was the sister of the late Perry Reese Jr., Audrey Hardy, during ceremonies held before the game against Magnificat, as well as Hiland Principal Matt Johnson and Athletic Director Art Yoder.


Also  in attendance were members of Schlabach’s family, including wife Tonya, children and parents as well as many former Lady Hawk players.


A reception was held after the ballgame.


The list of Dave’s coaching accomplishments in 27 years is long and impressive:

His teams have won 5 State Championships

They have madce 13 State Appearances – most in OHSAA girls basketball history

24 Inter-Valley Conference Championships

3 time National Coach of the Year

6 time OHSAA State Coach of the Year

Coached 5 OHSAA State Players of the Year

Selected to coach in the McDonald’s All American Game

Dave has coached 43 players who have gone on to play college basketball

The Scholarship Money received by players going to college totals $3.4 million
9 former players have come back to serve as Assistant Coaches in the program over the years


And now, he has become the 10th girls coach in OHSAA history to achieve 600 wins.
