Former Holmes County resident Ty Allison will be home to sign copies of her recently released book at Rodhe’s IGA Marketplace on March 11 from noon to 2 p.m.
Her special children’s book, “Dylan the Great Heart Warrior,” is about a young survivor and warrior of congenital hard disease.
The release comes at a special time – February is heart disease awareness month.
Allison, now of Albuquerque, New Mexico, tells the story of her son, Dylan, and his “adventures” living with – and overcoming – a congenital heart defect (CHD). Meant to share encouragement, hope and faith, colorful illustrations, scripture, and ballad-style storytelling fill the pages of “Dylan the Great Heart Warrior.”
“As a young parent, I could not imagine the adventures we would have and the life we would live,’ says mother Ty in the book’s honest and revealing preface. The book’s introduction shares the detailed story of Dylan’s diagnosis of Truncus Arteriosis, interrupted aortic arch, ASD, VSD, and discontinuous pulmonary right artery, discovered shortly after his birth. It is a real and true story of hope and miracles, written especially for families dealing with CHD or other serious medical issues.
One in 110 children – over 40,000 each year – are born with a congenital heart defect. While CHD has no cure, millions of families beat the odds, and live fulfilling lives full of faith, hope, and adventure!
