This special event was created to promote wellness in Holmes County citizens, both young and old alike, through the introduction of various Tai Chi forms to aid in healthy living.
World Tai Chi and Qigong is celebrated in hundreds of cities in over 80 nations annually on the last Saturday of April. One purpose of this global event is to introduce the health benefits of Tai Chi. Tai Chi has been called “medication in motion” by Harvard Health publications for the positive health benefits it offers. Numerous studies point to the benefits of Tai Chi, such as; stress relief, and improved balance, strength, and coordination among older adults.
Tai Chi on the Square is meant to bring the citizens of Holmes County and Tai Chi instructors, practicing in Holmes County and surrounding counties, to learn more about Tai Chi and Qigong through this day of global celebration. The public is invited and encouraged to attend to watch Tai Chi and Qigong demonstrations.
There will be opportunities for the public to be involved in various demonstrations during this hour long celebration.
