FFA Dairy Judging, Road Clean-Up

The West Holmes FFA recently participated in two activities–Dairy Judging and the Adopt-A-Highway road clean-up project.

Dairy Judging

September 15-18 the West Holmes FFA Chapter sent their Dairy team to compete in the Eastern States Exposition (Big E) in Springfield, Massachusetts.

 

The team placed 4th in the state last year and qualified to compete there. The team consists of William Hughes, Logan Schlauch, Regina Miller, Alyx Morris, John Hughes, and Mikey Kick. While competing the members take a test, judge cows, participate in a team activity, and give oral reasons.

 

Individual placings were: William Hughes 14th, Regina Miller 15th, Alyx Morris 18th, and Logan Schlauch 21st. The team placed 3rd overall. Congrats and great job to the West Holmes FFA Dairy team.

 

Adopt a Highway

On October 13th members of the West Holmes FFA Chapter participated in their first Adopt a Highway clean up.

 

The chapter decided to adopt a portion of the highway in front of the school to help keep it clean. Members walked the sides of the road picking up trash.

 

The portion of the road adopted by the chapter is highway 39, between roads 256 and 258. Participants were Jeffery Giaugue, Logan Schlauch, Braiden Bower, Chase Stizlein, Chris VanSickle, Alyx Morris, Zach Myers, Leon Williams, and Kohlsten Grosjean.
